Quiet Courage Next Door

Everyone on the street knew her as “the quiet neighbor.”

When it became clear she was ill, it also became clear how alone she really was. No family visiting, no friends by her side.

I decided to knock on her door. At first, just small gestures. A warm meal, a short conversation, helping with groceries. Slowly, trust began to grow.

She started to open up about her fears, but also about her determination to keep fighting. Despite everything, she remained quietly strong.

What began as simple help turned into a meaningful connection. She showed me what true courage looks like: continuing on, even when no one is watching.

Today, she is still fighting, but she is no longer alone. And sometimes, that makes all the difference.
